Welcome To Aligned Pilates.

We are glad you found us. We are a community of people that enjoy the work of Joseph Pilates method of corrective exercise called Contrology.

With over twenty years of studying with first- and second-generation teachers, Carmen Lanteigne, owner of Aligned Pilates loves sharing her experience with those keen on learning Joe’s work.

Carmen and her teachers at Aligned Pilates provide the right amount of guidance to help people learn about their bodies and stay consistent with their practice.

Carmen recalls a special teacher of hers, the late Jay Grimes, say “that every student that comes through the door is your teacher; you just have to listen.” Aligned Pilates is where Carmen and her teachers value their students by listening, meeting people where they are in their work and offering just the right amount of guidance so students become leaders of their bodies and know what exercises in the workout will make them feel good.

The Space

Since creating Aligned Pilates in 2007, it has become Carmen’s life long obsession to provide people with an incomparable space to learn the genius work of Joseph Pilates.

Today, Aligned Pilates has become the place where students learn the work and are champions of their own workouts. The experience in recreating what it was like to train like in the old days at Joe’s gym on 8th avenue in NYC is what makes Aligned Pilates so unique.

Aligned Pilates is a fully equipped studio with Reformers, Mats, Cadillac, High Chair, Wunda Chair, Arm Chair, High Barrel, Small Barrel, Spine Correctors, and other auxiliary apparatus that all will teach people about their bodies, improve flexibility, develop a strong torso, work on posture, and ignite a mind-body connection.

Your Practice

Working with many students over the years, Carmen has a few ideas on how people can start to learn Joe’s work and keep at it.

1. Have access To The Studio.

Students gain access to all of the studio's apparatus in PRIVATES, SMALL GROUP CLASSES, and SELF-PRACTICE.

New students start with 4 private lessons and then join the PILATES FUNDAMENTALS CLASS. With more experience each student gains access to more training opportunities offered on the schedule.

2. ConsistenT Practice.

A consistent practice of at least four days a week, combining at-home and studio practice, builds a strong foundation helping students assimilate new information to progress.

3. Have an Open-Mind.

Learning Joseph Pilates’ work takes time to learn. It requires dedication to the practice so that what feels very unfamiliar initially will make sense with time.

Don’t quit before the magic happens!
