WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a corrective exercise system that helps our bodies move better, feel strong, and THRIVE!

Pilates exercises teach us how to move our limbs from a well-supported middle known as the Core, Center or Powerhouse.

Pilates exercises are trained on specific apparatus that gives the body feedback using springs to provide resistance and support while intersecting with gravity.

The practice of Pilates involves the concentration and coordination of the body’s muscles.

A person practicing Pilates will experience a workout for the body.

Pilates teaches the body about proper movement mechanics and alignment, which is beneficial for simple daily activities to elite-level athleticism.

Pilates is a low-impact corrective exercise that improves strength, flexibility, balance, and posture. It is a body-mind practice that benefits people of all ages and fitness levels. Here are some of the benefits you can expect from a Pilates SESSION:

1. Improved core strength: Pilates is known for its focus on developing a strong and stable core. The exercises target the deep muscles of the abdomen, lower back, and hips, which can help improve your posture and reduce back pain.

2. Increased flexibility: Pilates exercises involve stretching and lengthening muscles, improving flexibility and range of motion. This can help reduce the risk of injury and enhance athletic performance.

3. Improved balance: Pilates exercises require you to maintain proper alignment, which can improve your balance and stability. This can help reduce your risk of falls, especially in older adults.

4. Reduced stress: Pilates incorporates breathing techniques and mindfulness, which can help reduce stress and promote relaxation. This can be especially helpful for people who suffer from anxiety or depression.

5. Better posture: Pilates exercises help strengthen the muscles that support your spine, improving your posture and reducing the risk of developing a hunchback or rounded shoulders.

Why is Pilates called Contrology?

Joseph Pilates referred to his system of exercise as Contrology. Today, we call it Pilates, after the man himself.

Practicing consistently allows you to control your body as you work out. With the proper repetition of the exercises, you gradually and progressively develop the natural rhythm and coordination to where the movement becomes second nature.

Learning to move efficiently and avoid pain will help you feel better overall.

You will RETURN TO LIFE through Contrology.
